OBIC UK is a Company Limited by Guarantee whose objective is the advancement of education. At its heart is advancing education for Black young persons in the UK through a purposeful range of educational activities and expanding its academic partnerships and collaboration network.
The goals and aims of OBIC UK include: is influenced by its Christian tradition borrowing from the Church of England Vision for Education Deeply Christian, Serving the Common Good Autumn 2016 with its goals being:
– Educating for Wisdom, Knowledge, and Skills,
– Educating for Hope and Aspiration,
– Educating for Community and Living Well Together and
– Educating for Dignity and Respect.
Chief Obafemi Awolowo, a leading Nigerian nationalist and statesman who played a key role in Nigeria’s independence movement opined that developing, bringing up, and evolving into an integral personality of the young required a systematic course of instruction based on the pursuit of learning through intellectual and moral training. In the words of our most noble eminent jurist Justice Taslim Elias, the foundation of an individual’s character is very much shaped by the learning nurtured and provided at school.
These noble ideals are essential to the mandate of OBIC UK and in shaping tomorrow’s leaders.
